When I grew up, my mum had (and still has) a zillion different nail polishes. Besides wearing dazzling eyeshadows and shiny lipgloss daily, she always kept her nails pretty in all kinds of shades. I usually sat next to her and painted my bitten nails, and never, never, can I remember not turning the bottle around to see the name of the colour. And I thought it was so funny how you could name colours with names that had nothing to do with the colour. And then, like 15-20 years later when I decided to become a copywriter, one of my copy goals were to name nail polishes. I accomplished that on H&M. Kind of. I think liquid lipsticks are close enough.
